Probation officers could become social workers under L.A. County plan

On November 19th, 2019, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a study of a proposal to encourage probation officers to get a master’s degree in social work to improve outcomes. The measure also includes recommendations on potentially creating employment pipeline programs from local MSW programs into the Probation Department, to fill any current or future vacancies.
