A Message from Dr. Highshaw:
Dear NASW-CA Members,
I am honored to share the results of our 2026 Chapter Leadership Council (CLC) elections. Please join me in celebrating the passionate, dedicated social workers who will step into leadership this July 2026. These leaders answered a call to serve – not for recognition, but because they believe in the power of our collective voice.Leadership is the soul of our membership movement
Every election, every volunteer shift, every conversation about where we are going as a chapter – that is the work of belonging. Leadership on the CLC is one form of service, but it is never the only one. Our movement depends on each of you: the member who shows up to Lobby Days, the student who speaks up in a regional meeting, the clinical supervisor who mentors the next generation. Volunteer engagement is not an extra. It is the way we build power for social workers and the communities we serve.Looking ahead: evolution with purpose
As you may know, our chapter is in a period of thoughtful transition. We are now using the language Chapter Leadership Council (CLC) as part of that journey. At our June Leadership Retreat, your elected leaders will engage in robust exploration and evolution, considering how we can best serve you, while staying grounded in our values. What will never change: NASW‑CA belongs to its members. Your voice guides us. Your volunteer spirit moves us. Please join me in thanking our outgoing leaders and welcoming this extraordinary new cohort. And if you have ever thought, “I’d like to do more” – now is the time. Reach out. Raise your hand. This is your chapter. With deep gratitude and excitement, Dr. Carl Highshaw, DSW, MSW (he/him) Executive Director NASW‑CA ChapterMeet your 2026 Leadership Winners
