Santa Clarita Unit: The Power of the Student-Teacher Relationship (1 CEU) on January 24

Santa Clarita NASW-CA Unit is excited to announce in collaboration with the Hart District Therapeutic Counseling Department, a virtual CEU presentation with special guest speaker, Mayra Bullon, LMFT, on Wednesday, 1/24/2024, from 8 to 9am. This course will review the importance of the student-teacher relationship, understanding on the importance of attachment in human development and how this relates to relationships in the school environment, the challenges of behaviors affecting this relationship, and helpful strategies to promote positive relationships in the school setting.

This free event is reserved up to 30 registrants. The deadline to register is January 22.

Learning objectives:

  • Participants will be able to identify at least 5 reasons positive student-teacher relationships can have a great impact during adolescence.
  • Participants will gain understanding on the importance of attachment in human development and how this relates to relationships in the school environment. 
  • Participants will be able to identify possible underlying reasons for challenging behaviors.
  • Participants will be able to verbalize strategies to promote positive relationships in the school setting.

About the Presenter
With nearly two decades of experience as a licensed LMFT, Mayra Bullon embodies a profound dedication to client-centered care and cultural humility in the therapeutic space. Demonstrating an exceptional approachability and insight, she passionately advocates for fostering a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment. She has navigated the complexities of the profession, consistently engaging with clients in an empathetic and supportive manner. Known for her trauma-focused approach she is often asked to work with intense cases, bringing a compassionate and nuanced perspective to each individual’s unique circumstances.

CEU Provider Statement: Course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, provided by NASW-CA.
