Region I Report
By Paul McDonough, LCSW
Thank you to the professional social workers of Los Angeles for electing me to another term of office as director of Region I. My fellow eight regional directors (A through I) have elected me to serve as their representative on the executive committee next year and I continue my appointed service on the Ethics and Finance/Ways and Means committees.
Regional directors, along with our president, vice presidents, and other elected and appointed leaders are professional social workers who volunteer many hours to serve our fellow members on top of our family, work and community responsibilities. We pay dues and volunteer for our professional association out of a sense of duty and the knowledge that NASW benefits all professional social workers along with those we serve. Regional directors are elected primarily for the purpose of representing you on the NASW-CA board of directors.
Regional directors conference monthly and the board meets every three months to vote on matters pertaining to the chapter and the profession in California. I need to know what LA professional social workers want from NASW. The vocal advocate gets the vote. You can share your ideas with me by emailing paultmcdonough@gmail.com or by joining the conversation on our Facebook group page https://www.facebook.com/groups/NASWCAREGIONI/
