Orange County Unit Report
The Orange County unit held its annual Social Work Month Celebration on Saturday, March 1, 2014 with a 3-CEU training seminar entitled “Health Care Reform: How Policy Informs Micro, Mezzo and Macro Social Work Practice” presented by Dr. Dawn Joosten.
Tina Rocha, MSW, was presented with the Social Worker of the Year award for her contributions as the coordinator of the Crisis Response Network of the Orange County Department of Education where she has served thousands of students, families and schools exposed to trauma and crisis throughout Orange County.
At the end of the training, Dr. Leslie Wind was surprised by more than 50 of her friends, family, students, alumni, and colleagues where she received the NASW CA–Region F Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Region F
Director, Cameron Galford, LCSW. Dr. Wind’s multifaceted social work career spans more than four decades across the United States as a licensed clinician, researcher, advocate, community organizer, activist, author, professor and mentor. Immediately following the award ceremony, guests attended a lunch reception in honor of both awardees.
