Central Cost Unit Report
By Ignacio Pacheco, MSW
NASW Central Coast unit has been busy! Please follow us on Facebook at naswccu.org.
First, we want to acknowledge the hard work that fellow social workers have accomplished through volunteering their time. We recently spent time with one another at our annual holiday dinner in December.
We are currently making plans for another CEU event in February 2014. We are also making plans for our annual Social Work Month Celebration in March 2013 to include the first-ever NASW Central Coast unit Social Worker of the Year award. We are always looking for assistance in our planning. Please follow us at naswccu.org for the latest news and opportunities.
San Luis Obispo Report
By L. Jeanette Davis, DSW
The San Luis Obispo unit begins 2014 with a two-hour CEU program on Thursday, January 23rd. We are pleased that Tauria Linala from our local GALA Center will give a presentation on “Silent Elders: LGBT Senior Advocacy.” We begin the meeting at 5:30pm with networking, socialization and light snacks followed by the program from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. If you are interested in attending, please contact Ly-Lan Lofgren at lylanmvlofgren@gmail.com
We ended 2013 with our annual holiday party and extend many good wishes to all California NASW members. We hope that 2014 is a year where we, as social workers, will continue to bring about progressive changes in our diverse communities.
Mark your calendars for the following fourth Thursdays in 2014: February 27th, March 27th and April 24th.
