Region A Report
By Shelly Kalmer
Happy New Year! With this changing of the calendar, I’m excited to announce some changes in the volunteer leadership for Region A.
In August 2013, Luisa Ward, MSW, volunteered to co-chair with Michelle Dowds Javid, MSW, of the Marin unit. Luisa recently graduated with her MSW from the CSU Long Beach distance ed program and works in Marin County Children and Family Services department.
In November 2013, Katrina Surprise, MSW, volunteered to chair the Sonoma unit. Katrina also recently graduated from the CSU Long Beach Distance Ed program and is working in health policy with the Sonoma County Health Services Department.
I would like to thank Carla Schwarz, MSW, and Daniela Bravo, MSW, for their leadership of the Sonoma unit over the past year. The hard work, commitment and passion they have for the profession of social work is unstoppable and I wish them much success in their new jobs.
The San Francisco unit continues to be led by Mark Thoma, LCSW, who also volunteers as the assistant Region A director.
We all look forward to seeing you in the coming months at the many events to be planned throughout the region.
