The tremendous and lingering impact of Hurricane Harvey storm will call for even more deployments of volunteers including Disaster Mental Health (DMH) volunteers to meet the needs of the clients.
If you are available to deploy, this is possible through the Direct Deployment Process. Professionals who are DMH-eligible (but not currently Red Crossers) are able to deploy as Red Crossers for the current response for 9 days. The Red Cross will cover costs of your transportation, housing, food and incidentals while you are deployed. On-boarding and training will be provided before you travel. They will do their best to match staffing needs with each volunteer’s availability but of course we cannot guarantee deployment within any one person’s available timeframe.

The Red Cross is seeking additional mental health professionals to assist with the Hurricane Harvey. They have activated a Direct Deployment process to recruit new Disaster Mental Health (DMH) and Disaster Health Services (DHS) volunteers who are not already Red Crossers.
