Our goal is to provide inmates at Taft Federal Correction Facility with visitors.
One day each month, men and women throughout the U.S. visit inmates at Federal prisons by volunteering with Prisoner Support and Visitation (PVS). Many prisoners are far from home, and as a result, receive no family visits during the course of a year.
The kindness of strangers can make a significant difference in a prisoner’s life, having long term positive effects even after a prisoner is released and returns to his/her home community.
As a social worker you are keenly aware of the social and psychological effects of incarceration and isolation upon prisoners. I am asking that you send this message to colleague and friends who may be interested in taking on this challenging and meaningful role.
I will be in the Taft/Bakersfield area July 20 and 21 and would like to meet with you and other people who have an interest in volunteering or who want to learn more about this role through Prisoner Visitation and Support.
