Opening Keynote
Angelo McClain, PhD, LICSW – Chief Executive Officer, National Association of Social Workers, leads efforts that grow and support the social work profession from NASW’s national headquarters in Washington DC. He will deliver the opening keynote address: Forging Solutions Out of Challenges.

A Tale of Three Cities: Sandy Hook, Boston, and Crow, Montana – Responding to Active Shooter, Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism – A review of the current terrorism threat assessment from the FBI WMD Coordinator for Southern CA, Mental health impact of these types of events using novel, evidence based triage system.
Celebrate the Profession
The Social Work Awards Ceremony will follow the morning plenary and will honor outstanding individuals for NASW-CA Social Worker of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award and Public Citizen of the Year.
Workshop Sessions and Licensure Classes
The conference includes 15 workshop topics offered in three time slots throughout the day. Some hot topics include, The Mental Health Impact of Human Trafficking, VA Benefits Boot Camp, Workplace Bullying, DSM-5, Law & Ethics and much more!
Several pre-licensure classes are also available, including Human Sexuality (offered on Thursday, Oct. 13), Spousal/Partner Abuse, and Aging and Long Term Care (which carry over to Saturday). The 15 hour Clinical Supervision class is also offered on Friday & Saturday.
Networking Lunch
Friday’s networking lunch offers an opportunity to relax with colleagues, meet new friends and congratulate the social work award recipients!
Exhibits Reception Prizes and More
Visit more than 40 recruiters and vendors in the exhibit hall on Friday. Planned activities include continental breakfast, refreshment breaks, the CalPACE Silent Auction and an evening closing reception with door prizes!
Learning and networking opportunities extend into the evening hours with Council meetings of the American Red Cross, Disabilities, Technology and Social Action Social Justice.
Registration discounts and volunteers needed
