The presentation will describe opportunities available for Licensed Clinical Social Workers in the field of integrated mediation (including divorce and probate cases). Discussion topics will include exploration of dispute resolution strategies and the value of creating collaborative relationships between mental health professionals and lawyers. The presentation will also include discussion and evaluation of various psychological tools and interventions being used by mental health professionals working with individuals and groups in dispute resolution.
Presenters
Kathleen Adams, LSCW
With over 25 years of experience in social work, Kathleen has worked as a clinical supervisor, youth program consultant, and a film producer. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in social work in 1980 from Catholic University, and her master’s degree in social work from Adelphi University in 1985. Currently she operates a private psychotherapy practice and is a university lecturer.
Stephen Sulmeyer, J.D., Ph.D
A psychologist and mediator, Stephen has over 15 years of experience in psychology and 30 years of experience in law. Stephen has conducted numerous workshops and lectures on topics spanning transpersonal psychology to transforming family law practice. In 2001 he obtained his doctorate in psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, and in 1983 he obtained his doctorate in Law from Stanford Law School. Currently he operates a mediation practice and provides psychotherapy.
