March is Social Work Month, and we’re ready to celebrate.

This year’s Social Work Month theme, “The Time is Right for Social Work,” could not be more relevant to our profession. There are nearly 720,000 social workers in the United States, and nearly 80,000 in California alone. That number continues to grow as helping professionals are stepping up to serve and advocate for communities in need, fight for social justice, and educate the next generation of change-makers in our nation.

In California, we are taking this theme one step further by launching the “Social Workers CAN” campaign. Throughout March and beyond, we will be celebrating California social workers, the diverse roles they represent, and the stories that lead us to this field. From advocacy, to education, to leadership, to therapeutic settings and beyond, CA social workers are on the frontlines of social change. We are proud to honor and uplift their contributions at this pivotal time in history for our profession.

  • We’ve created four new digital Zoom backgrounds to help you uplift social work this month. Download your favorites and use them during March.

View instructions for uploading a Zoom background here, and be sure to to click “Mirror My Video” so text displays correctly on the screen.

  • Follow NASW-CA on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter to engage with us throughout the month, and sign up for our newsletter to access even more stories and content during Social Work Month.
  • Share your social work stories. Whether you have benefitted from services provided by social workers, want to share how you got involved in the field, or simply want others to know why the time is always right for our profession, post about it on social media. Don’t forget to tag NASW-CA on social media and hashtag #NASWCA and #SocialWorkersCAN as you share.
  • Invite NASW-CA to speak to your group or organization about the Association, membership, and other social work topics of interest. Submit a Speaker Request Form to get started.
  • Not a Member? Join today for discounts on events, online courses, and partner programs, and access to leadership opportunities, career counseling, our MyNASW Forum, and more.
  • Attend NASW-CA and Regional events and access benefits and discounts for professional development, self-care, and advocacy.
