NASW-CA celebrates Caribbean American Heritage Month in June! Join us as we recognize the significance of Caribbean people and their descendants in the history and culture of our country. From activism and politics to music and pop culture, innumerable Caribbean Americans have influenced and shaped our culture. Through the commemoration of this month, we hope to ensure that our country is reminded that its greatness lies in its diversity.
Although the strong influence of Caribbean Americans’ contributions is prevalent, systemic racism and oppression continues to be a reality for many in the community. Disparities in healthcare, education, incarceration, housing, and employment are just a few barriers that the community experiences on a frequent basis. NASW-CA is committed to social justice and we will continue to advocate for the eradication of racial inequity.
