Notice to Licensees Regarding Changes for Retired Licenses:
The Governor recently signed AB 404, which was a board-sponsored bill related to retired licenses. This bill reduces the timeframe that a retired licensee has to decide to reinstate his or her license to active status. Information on this change can be found on “Retired License Information” located at www.bbs.ca.gov/licensees/renewal_retired.shtml.
Examination Restructure — Effective Date Changed to January 1, 2016:
SB 821 (Chapter 473, Statutes of 2013) was recently signed by the Governor. This bill changes the effective date of the Board’s upcoming restructure of its examination process from January 1, 2014 to January 1, 2016.
Notice to Associate Social Worker (ASW) applicants:
Effective January 1, 2014, all ASW applicants must have completed training or coursework in California law and professional ethics for clinical social workers. This coursework may be embedded within more than one course and must cover certain topic areas.
