Effective July 1, 2023, the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) will initiate changes to the regulations pertaining to continuing education for all licensees. The changes are intended to update, streamline and provide clarity in the CE regulations, as well as strengthen consumer protection.
These changes include:
- CE for Initial Renewal Periods
- CE Course Content Requirements
- CE Waiver Criteria (also known as CE exceptions)
- New LEPs Renewing an Initial License
- CE for Participation in an Occupational Analysis
- CE for Course Taught
- Law and Ethics Courses for Supervisors
- Participation in Law and Ethics Review Committee
The CE-related regulation changes apply to all of the following:
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT)
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW)
- Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP)
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC)
- Board-accepted providers of CE
