Social Worker of the Year: Gerardo Laviña

I cannot stop smiling as I look at this photo.  I felt so supported throughout this event and uplifted as I spoke.  I cannot thank you enough for your presence.  It meant a lot to me personally, and my family was so grateful for all you showing up. Joaquin and Angelo told many of you: “Thank you for coming and supporting my father and us.”  I didn’t ask them to do this, so it came from them as a sincere appreciation on behalf of the Laviña family.    I would not have achieved this award without each of you holding me up.

With love and gratitude,

Gerardo P. Laviña, MSW, LCSW

Director of Field Education

Associate Director MSW Education
Mental Health Stipend Coordinator

Faculty Advisor, Luskin D3 Initiative
