San Luis Obispo Unit Report

The first San Luis Obispo Unit meeting held on Thursday, January 22, and led by John Roorda, LCSW, was fun, insightful and experiental.

Entitled “What’s so great about EMDR?” 22 social workers attended, many of whom had recently moved into the SLO county.

The next SLO unit meeting will be Thursday, February 26, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Dr. Nish Abdulcader’s presentation will be on the “Medical Aspects of Child Abuse/Early Childhood Adverse Experiences & Development.” 1 CEU will be available.

On Thursday, March 26, the SLO Unit will be celebrating Social Work Month.  Ray Ford, LCSW, has been chosen as Social Worker of the Year.

A free AATBS 2 hour workshop titled “Live Strategies Workshop” will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. and will assist any candidate preparing both the California Social Work Standard Written and Clinical Vignette Exams. It is led by expert exam consultant and instructor, David Wadman, M.S.

The AATBS presentation on February 17, 2015 will be held at 3433 So. Higuera, Room 101A. The presentation on the exam will be 90 minutes, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Because food will not be provided, please bring a sack dinner.

Included in this Free Workshop:  

  • Overview of the format for the standard written and clinical vignette exams
  • Description of upcoming changes to the exams in 2015
  • Review of study strategies, test taking tips, and sample questions from both exams
  • Summary of AATBS study materials and how they can be used to help you pass the exams
     

About Your Instructor: David Wadman, M.S.
David Wadman is one of our excellent consultants and instructors who coaches candidates across the country for social work and MFT exams. He has successfully assisted many participants pass their exams using study programs offered by AATBS. In addition to his work with AATBS, David operates a private practice in Westlake Village primarily working with dating, engaged, and married couples, as well as individual adults and families.
