During the summer break two local social workers, Erin Voss and JoAnne Milburn, were spotlighted on our Facebook page. We also spotlighted Elvera Hornung who passed away in July.

The SLO unit begins its fall schedule on Thursday, September 24th with a 1 CEU presentation entitled, “Culture, Context & Content: What Differences There Are and What Difference It Makes?”
Led by John L Gannon, PhD, Dr. Gannon believes that although we live in an era where there are many therapeutic treatments, not much healing occurs. This is largely due from outside environmental influences such as time pressures, limited funding, unrealistic expectations and misguided theoretical commitments.
In his presentation, Dr. Gannon will explore the role of the three Cs in bringing about better treatment outcomes:
Dr. Gannon has undergraduate degrees in business administration, philosophy and psychology from Cal State Long Beach. His graduate degrees in philosophy and psychology, as well as a doctoral degree, in clinical psychology are from Florida State University Tallahassee. He has more than 30 years of experience in mental health and criminal justice.
From 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. we will network, partake in snacks, and have a brief business meeting. The program begins at 6:15p.m. To get directions to the meeting, please contact the unit at NASWSLO@gmail.com
