Red Cross Needs Volunteers for U.S. Disasters

You have seen the news and know there are several terrible disasters occurring across the United States.

As positions open we expect the need to support our fellow Red Cross communities in the next few days.  Having said that, please let us know your availability.

Following are the simple steps to help us help you help our communities here and across the nation.

National deployments require that you are qualified in a specialized activity of need, and that you are available to deploy within 24 hours’ notice for a minimum 2 week commitment.  Disaster mental health and health services minimum 10 day commitment.

Please ensure you have a GAP (group/activity/position) reflected in your Volunteer Connection profile.  This is necessary prior to being assigned.  Review your profile (contact information) for accuracy.

Contact your local Red Cross today to get processed (NOTE: there is NO self-deployment!).

If you would like to become a Red Cross volunteer to help at future times, go to the following link:

www.redcross.org/support/volunteer/opportunities#step1

Type in your zip code and follow the directions for “Disaster Services.”

For questions, contact Joni Diamond, LCSW, NASWCA/ARC Statewide Council Chair at jonidiamond@prodigy.net
