December 5 was the swearing in ceremony of our two new Los Angeles county supervisors— Janice Hahn and Kathryn Barger. This was a joint effort by the LA county workers of SEIU local 721 and NASW region I.
We now have two additional advocates on the board for children and families as well as the mentally ill.
This goes to show that NASW and the unions can work together effectively to create change for the community. I hope this will only be the beginning of future joint ventures.
