This webinar will provide participants with an overview of complex ethical issues pertaining to social work with children, families, and schools.
Participants will learn how to identify ethical dilemmas, protect clients, prevent professional malpractice, and avoid liability. Emphasis will be on practical strategies designed to protect children, families, professionals, and employers.
Key topics will include the nature of minors’ right to privacy and confidentiality; limits to minors’ right to privacy and confidentiality; informed consent; boundary issues and dual relationships; conflicts of interest; social workers’ and clients’ use of social media and digital technology; and documentation. The webinar will include extensive case material and discussion of relevant ethical standards, statutes, regulations, and court decisions.
