TOP 5 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT DACA RENEWALS

From the National Immigration Law Center:

1. The U.S. Supreme Court announced on June 28, 2019, that it decided to review the DACA court cases during its next term.

The Court is likely to hear oral argument about DACA in early 2020 and could decide on the future of DACA sometime between January and June 2020. Therefore, a decision on DACA from the Supreme Court could come at the latest by June 2020. Stay tuned for next steps on how you can take action ahead of the Supreme Court oral argument!

2. If your DACA expires in 2020, we recommend you speak with a legal service provider about renewing your DACA now.

Visit www.RenewMyDACA.com to learn more about how to apply for your renewal and get financial help to pay the application fees.

3. First-time applications for DACA (from people who haven’t had it before) are still NOT being accepted at this time, and advance parole is still NOT available for DACA recipients.

No one knows for sure whether either of these situations will change in the future.

4. Donate to help pay for DACA renewal fees and help immigrant youth stay protected!

We can’t let the cost of applying for DACA determine whether people who are eligible for it are protected. Go to www.DACARenewalFund.com to donate!

5. Our fight continues!

In 2018, our communities mobilized to elect a new Congress that rejects Trump’s mass deportation agenda. The House of Representatives has already passed the Dream and Promise Act. However, we know that Republicans will not pass permanent protections without using immigrant youth as bargaining chips for more enforcement that would hurt our families and communities. We must continue to demand that ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection are defunded, while we work to elect new champions in the House, Senate, and White House in 2020. We are #HereToStay.
