The Family Urgent Response System (FURS) Is Now Available for Caregivers of Current and Former Foster Youth In California

Are you a caregiver of a current or former foster youth? Are you feeling frustrated? Would you like additional support?

The Family Urgent Response System (FURS) is a coordinated state and county response system that will provide current and former foster youth (up to age 21) and their caregivers with immediate, trauma-informed support by caring and trained professionals when they need it.

FURS will accomplish this through a 24/7 Statewide Hotline and a 24/7 County-based Mobile Response and Stabilization.

Call or Text: 1-833-939-FURS

FURS is intended to:

  • Prevent placement disruptions and preserve the relationship between the child or youth and their caregiver
  • Reduce the need for a 911 call or law enforcement involvement and the needless criminalization of traumatized youth
  • Reduce hospitalization and placement into congregate care
  • Promote healing as a family
  • Provide a safe and judgement-free space for youth and caregivers
