South Bay Unit Report

By Alex Yuen

As part of the celebration for Social Work Month in March, the NASW South Bay Unit collaborated with the Social Workers in the Library program of San Jose’s Martin Luther King Jr. Library, in one of the most successful events in the recent history of both groups. Nearly 150 current social workers, social work students, and their friends and families participated in raffles, awards presentations, and a wonderful, interactive CEU training on the “Top 10 Issues Facing the Community by a Social Worker’s Perspective,” by NASW California Chapter President Cathy Ralph. Attendees celebrated award winners in their Outstanding Achievement in the following areas: Mental Health; Medical Social Work; Child Welfare; Advocacy; Program Development; Associate Professor; Lifetime Achievement; and Social Worker of the Year!

The NASW South Bay Unit is also planning an exciting kickoff event in May. Stay tuned for more details!
