Social Worker Recruitment for American Red Cross Volunteers

The American Red Cross through
its Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) provides relief when disasters strike for those affected by residential fires, earthquakes, floods, wildfires, transportation accidents, terrorist attacks, mudslides and other man-made and natural disasters — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Consider volunteering with the American Red Cross whether you are a student, an MSW, LCSW, employed or retired. There are volunteer opportunities in DCS in client casework, sheltering, feeding, or mental health (LCSW required) plus more. (Please note that you can also volunteer in Service to the Armed Forces or International such as the Restoring Family Links Program.)

  • Contact the Red Cross chapter closest to you by going to www.redcross.org and click on “find your local chapter” on the top right.
  • On your chapter web page click on “Volunteer” on the left side and submit an application.
  • Attend a Red Cross orientation.
  • Learn about the opportunities available and decide what activity best suits you.
  • Take the required training either face-to-face or on the web.
  • Complete your application by doing other required paperwork.

Social Workers making a difference!

If you are already a Red Cross volunteer, let us hear from you about your experiences.

Please feel free to contact us, if you have any questions or wish further information.
