The American Red Cross provides emergency and recovery relief for victims of residential fires, earthquakes, floods, wildfires, transportation accidents, terrorist attacks, explosions and other man-made and natural disasters — 24 hours a day, 365 days-a-year.
The American Red Cross needs social workers at all levels — from students to LCSWs to retirees! There are volunteer opportunities for all levels: mass care, family services, disaster mental health services (must be LCSW) and more. Social workers make a difference when disaster strikes!
Contact the Red Cross chapter closest to you. Please go to the chapter locator website at www.redcross.org. All volunteers must go through ARC orientation and training.
Some paperwork will be needed (i.e. health status record, background check and signed code of conduct).
If you are already a Red Cross volunteer, let us hear from you about your experiences.
Please feel free to contact us, if you have any questions or wish further information.
