This document reports on the outcomes from a June 2013 symposium, supported by the University of Southern California, that focused on what principles should be included in a covenant for veterans and their families, and what strategies are needed at the federal, state and community levels to more fully meet the needs of veterans and their families. The participants also explored what role universities can take in educating and training a diverse cadre of professionals and policy makers and in undertaking research.
Advanced Practice Doctorates: What They Mean for Social Work Practice, Research and Education
This document reports on the outcomes and recommendations of a September 2013 symposium which explores the recent emergence of practice doctoral programs offering a DSW degree in several schools of social work, with the creation of additional programs pending. It considers what gap these degree offerings might be fulfilling for practitioners; what the implications might be for the profession and for bridging the research-practice divide and provides recommendations. The symposium was a collaboration of NASW and the organizations representing social work education, research and legal regulation.
