Scott Bowling Appointed to California BBS

Scott Bowling, 49, of West Hollywood, has been
appointed to the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Scott has been president and chief executive officer at the Exceptional Children’s Foundation since 1999.

“I am honored by this appointment to the Board of Behavioral Sciences and thank Governor Brown for his support,” said Bowling. “I look forward to bringing attention to the need for quality mental health services and advocating for improved care. I also look forward to sharing mental health successes learned by the Exceptional Children’s Foundation.”

The mission of the BBS is to protect Californians by advocating for improved mental health services as well as determining and enforcing standards. The BBS is the California state regulatory agency responsible for licensing for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP), and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC). The Board also works alongside other mental health agencies and organizations to advocate for increased consumer awareness and access to mental health services

Bowling was associate director at New Horizons from 1989 to 1999 and is a member of the Culver City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Bowling is registered without party preference.
