Red Cross Council Thanks Volunteers

The Red Cross Council would like to thank Vicky Powell, LCSW, MPA, for her years of volunteerism to the Council as a member, co-chair and one of the three representatives to the California Disaster Mental Health Coalition (CDMHC).

The Coalition is a statewide multidisciplinary group of licensed clinicians along with the Red Cross, governmental representatives and experts-at-large who meet bi-annually and telephonically to discuss disaster mental health services for CA should disaster strike.

Additionally, the Red Cross Council would like to thank David Wee who was the third representative to the Coalition and welcome Robin Siegal, LCSW, who is the new representative from the Council to the Coalition.

The Red Cross Council has openings for NASW-CA members of all backgrounds (licensed and non-licensed) to become Red Cross trained by your local office and volunteer via the auspices of the Red Cross when disaster strikes. Social Workers making a difference in our local communities!

To become a Red Cross volunteer, go to www.redcross.org and type in your zip code on the top right to find your local office and become a volunteer with Disaster Services.

To get involved with the Red Cross Council, contact the Chair Joni Diamond at jonidiamond@prodigy.net  or (818) 832-9941.
