North Gateway Unit Presents Conference for Community Wellness

This two-day conference takes place August 3-4, 2018 from 9 am to 4 pm in at 800 Shasta Drive in Redding, California

This 12 CEU conference will focus on trauma and community resilience. On Friday, we will learn from B. Liles, PhD about trauma-focused therapy, as well as child sex trafficking identification and services to foster resilience.

In the afternoon, we learn from D. Geller about the SAFE center in Sacramento and how CPS, medical providers and police coordinate services to help children that have been abused. These taped interviews, as well as medical exams, can be used in court so young children are spared the need to testify. On Sunday, we learn from D. Cropp, ASW (researcher and retired police officer) and E. Whitefeather, (Native American activist) about a community for peace and how the DV response team works as well as implications of DV on children.

Gonzales will discuss gun control measures and current legislature, while K. Walter, LCSW, and supervisor for Karuk Tribe will discuss resiliency and community traditions.

We offer breakfast and lunch during the event.

Registration deadline is August 1, 2018
