NHSC Loan Repayment Program

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) is pleased to announce that
the 2014 NHSC Loan Repayment Program application cycle is now open.
The application cycle will close on March 20th at 7:30pm ET.

To help ensure that the communities with the greatest need are supported,
qualified applicants working in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs)
with the highest scores as of January 1, 2014, will be given priority. With
continued service, NHSC providers may be able to pay off all of their student
loans.

Initial awards amounts are as follows:

2 Years Full-time

2 Years Half-time

Loan Repayment Award
(HPSA Score of 14 and above)

$50,000

$25,000

Loan Repayment Award
(HPSA Score of 13 and below)

$30,000

$15,000

The Program is expected to be competitive. On average, it takes a few weeks
to complete an application so please encourage applicants to begin the process
early. It is suggested that applicants start gathering required documentation
as soon as possible.

Technical assistance webcasts and conference calls have been scheduled to
address questions. Encourage applicants to mark their calendars for the
following webcast and conference calls.

  • Webcast: Wed., January 29 at 8:00pm-9:30pm ET
  • Conference Call: Wed., February 5 at 8:00pm-9:30pm ET
  • Conference Call: Wed., February 12 at 8:00pm–9:30pm ET

Also, please share one of our member story videos which features
Sean Boynes, DDS, a current NHSC Loan Repayment Program participant.
Dr. Boynes is a dentist practicing at CareSouth Carolina’s Mobile Dental Unit
in Society Hill, SC. This will give applicants a unique view into the life of a
current NHSC participant.

We appreciate your continued support in helping us to spread the word!
