NASW-Michigan and EcoCuba Network Announce a Cross Country Social Welfare Trip in Cuba

APRIL 23 – MAY 5, 2017

NASW-MICHIGAN is pleased to again be collaborating with ECO CUBA NETWORK in sponsoring a social welfare-focused trip to Cuba where members can earn 45 CEs while learning about the health and human services system in Cuba.  We have sponsored two previous highly successful trips in the past few years.  Participants have raved about their experience on our “Social Welfare in Cuba” tours as “life changing” and “amazingly eye opening.”

On this trip we will travel across the Island from Havana to Santiago, stopping in rural communities and towns along the way. This will give us the opportunity to observe and dialogue with citizens and professionals in urban and rural settings and in various cultural contexts. Cubans are innovative and highly creative in their approaches to solving problems and this adventure will allow us to experience how human needs get met in Cuba in a diversity of ways, in a variety of settings.

All of the information about the Program, Logistics, Application process, Continuing Education and Contact information for Eco Cuba Network can be found on the webpage: http://www.ecocubanetwork.net/socialwelfare2017

I am so very pleased to again be coordinating this trip for NASW. Each time I go to Cuba and have the opportunity to continue to share Cuba’s health and human service system with social workers in the USA. There is so much that we can learn from the Cuban model of care and we have a great time doing it!

Please feel free to contact me for further information: Marjorie Ziefert, LMSW at mziefert@emich.edu or Pam Montanaro, ECN Program Coordinator at pam@ecocubanetwork.net.
