This is a webinar series that equips clinicians and educators to better serve their Black students and support efforts for justice through their behavioral health service. The quality of our supports matters, AND contributes to the ways in which Black children and families feel connected and/or oppressed. The pandemics are not over; our Black students have suffered through the acute crises of the COVID-19 emergency, school closures, social isolation, civil unrests, domestic terrorism, and ongoing harms at the hands of the systems that were build to serve them. But, now, we are in the midst of inequitable vaccine distributions, uncertainty and fear about racial tensions and racist harms, and continuously social isolations. Black youth are contemplating suicide now, more than ever. We, as providers, need to hold the onus to prepare ourselves offer better service through our behavioral health supports with the lens of critical race theory and anti-racism values, strengthening our engagement strategies, and deepening our understandings of the mental health impacts of Black students during this time.
This series offers providers with the tools necessary to identify and adequately support Black students and families to access the mental well-being they deserve.
