Hall of Distinction: Join the Celebration!

All are welcome to attend the celebration of professional social workers and the 2016 inductees to California Social Work Hall of Distinction on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel, the site of the Annual Conference.

The Hall of Distinction is part of the California Social Welfare Archives (CSWA), a statewide organization which operates under the USC School of Social Work.  CSWA offers NASW members a discount on their event tickets.  This year, NASW- CA Executive Director, and Hall of Distinction Committee Member, Janlee Wong will be the emcee of the ceremony. Tickets are $30 for NASW Members.

The impressive group of honorees and presenters include:

Janet E. Black, MSW – Shaper of social work education

Presented by Beverly J. Buckles, DSW, Dean, School of Behavioral Health, Loma Linda University

 

Howard H. Carey, PhD (Posthumously) – Exemplary builder of health and human care programs

Presented by Rudolph A. Johnson, III, President and CEO, Neighborhood House Association

 

David Kuroda, LCSW – Expert and educator in child custody mediation and collaborative divorce

Presented by Esther Gillies. LCSW, Clinical Associate Professor, USC School of Social Work, retired

 

Jane Kurohara, MSW – Innovative field work educator and advocate for diversity

Presented by Y. Bill Watanabe, MSW, Board of Governors, Little Tokyo Service Center

 

Armando Torres Morales, DSW (Posthumously) – Trailblazing scholar, mental health services provider and community activist

Presented by Fernando M. Torres-Gil, PhD, Professor of Social Welfare and Public Policy, UCLA Department of Public Policy

 

Terrence J. Roberts, PhD – Social justice and civil rights advocate, author and consultant

Email cswa@usc.edu for information about purchasing a table, placing a tribute message in the commemorative program, and joining the growing list of event sponsors. A sponsorship costs $250 and includes two event tickets, recognition during the ceremony and in the commemorative program, and acknowledgement in the event video.
