10th Annual Liberation Based Healing Conference

We are in midst of a major social justice movement being led by the efforts of courageous leaders, activists, communities, and organizations throughout the country.  This is a time where we need critical spaces to dialogue, reflect and develop social justice based action strategies.

The 10th Annual Liberation Based Healing Conference (LBHC) is that space! This year’s title “Challenging Inequities: Decolonizing Practices and Social Action” centers on voices and experiences from the margins, while teaching liberation-based practices that emphasize equity, cultural context, power and privilege, and historical and collective trauma. Founded by The Institute for Family Services, the LBHC is a unique space where critical consciousness, empowerment, accountability, reconciliation, and healing among individuals, families and communities are promoted and practiced.

Taking place at California State University, Northridge on November 13-14, 2015, this two-day conference, brings together local and national organizations and communities offering strategies that promote healing by interrupting oppressive societal structures in systems of criminal justice, community and domestic violence, education, immigration, health and mental health, religious and spiritual practices, homelessness, and youth incarceration.

The first day creates an opportunity to engage in critical dialogue with leaders toward implementing transformative practices and examining implications of policy on our communities. The second day enhances the dialogue focusing on the innovative ways communities are applying liberation-based healing practices.

  • Registration is $150 for professionals and $60 for students (before September 30, 2015).
  • There is a 10% discount when two or more register at the same time.
  • Registration fees allow us to keep the 2nd day FREE and open to the public.
  • This event offers 16 CEUs, and lunch is provided on both days.
