March Social Work Month was celebrated at the State Capitol in two separate events. On March 13, we were honored to receive a resolution on the floor of the Assembly from Assemblymember Mariko Yamada, MSW.
This resolution commemorated the 40th anniversary of the NASW-CA chapter and our advocacy on behalf of the social work profession. Assemblymember Yamada also co-authored a resolution, HR 30, with Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman, LCSW, PhD that passed unanimously off the floor of the State Assembly. This measure outlined the many contributions of the social work profession and the work of the NASW-CA Chapter.
Our second event was on March 18. We held a reception for area NASW members, legislators and legislative staff in the State Capitol. At this reception we also honored our two social workers in the State Assembly, Mariko Yamada, MSW, and Susan Talamantes Eggman, LCSW, PhD. This event was a great way to raise the profile of the social work profession in Sacramento.
