NASW-CA Chapter is spearheading the push for Governor Gavin Newsom to appoint a social worker to fill Senator Kamala Harris’s seat in 2021. We firmly believe that a social worker is necessary to meet the needs of California and the nation amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. We believe Rep. Karen Bass or Rep. Barbara Lee would be a perfect fit to represent California in the U.S. Senate. Both legislators have a proven track record of advocating for legislation and initiatives that are in line with our Code of Ethics and our values as a social work organization.
