Santa Clarita Unit: Impact of Suicide of the Family (1 CEU) on December 6

Please join us for a free CEU virtual event on Wednesday December 6 from 8am to 9am for a presentation entitled “The Impact of Suicide on the Family,” presented by Roxanne Irwin, LMFT. This course will explore the emotional impact on families when a loved one has died by suicide or made suicidal attempts. Participants will gain understanding on the emotional and behavioral responses that many families and loved ones experience during the grief process that is unique to suicide-related loss. A curated resource list will also be provided, including links to videos, articles, and websites that are specific to both families and the professionals who help them.

The deadline to register is December 4, 2023. The virtual link to join the event itself will be sent out 2 days prior to the event via email to those who have registered .This event is reserved for 50 people.

• Identify at least 3 grief responses that are unique to families impacted by suicide
• Understand how and why families “minimize, deny and avoid”

About the Presenter:
Roxanne Irwin, LMFT, has been a clinical director and has many years of experience working in community mental health as a clinician, program manager, and clinical supervisor. She is dedicating the remainder of her years in the work force to providing direct practice in the schools as a licensed clinical anchor at a high school. She is also a clinical supervisor for her department.

CEU Provider Statement: Course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, provided by NASW-CA.
