NASW and the National Center for Complex Health & Social Needs have partnered to write a blog, NASW Endorses Complex Care Core Competencies. The Core Competencies for Frontline Complex Care Providers, created by the National Center, describe the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide quality care for people with complex health and social needs. The Competencies build on social work standards and help interdisciplinary team members to unite behind shared goals and approaches to care. Complex care is an emerging field of practice in which social workers have particular expertise.
