Join the Celebration: California Social Work Hall of Distinction

All are welcome to attend the celebration of professional social workers and the 2017 inductees to California Social Work Hall of Distinction on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the San Mateo Marriott San Francisco Airport Hotel, the site of the Annual Conference.

The Hall of Distinction is part of the California Social Welfare Archives (CSWA), a statewide organization that operates under the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work.  CSWA offers NASW members a discount on their event tickets.

Tickets are $40 for NASW Members. NASWCA Vice President, and Hall of Distinction Committee Member Nancy Lim-Yee will be the emcee of the ceremony this year. The impressive group of honorees and presenters include:

 

Doreen Der-McLeod (MSW, Rutgers)

Model-establishing leader in elder health care center program management.

Presented by Rev. Harry Chuck, Executive Director Donaldina Cameron House, retired.

 

Dr. Bernice Catherine Harper (MSW, USC)

Clinician, educator and researcher who transformed social work and hospice and palliative care.

Presented by Suzanne Dworak-Peck, Ambassador, International Federation of Social Workers.

 

Dr. Rebecca Alicia Lopez (MSW, Brandeis)

Academic and community leader with extraordinary impact on Latino empowerment, social justice, and the profession.

Presented by Dr. Fernando Torres-Gil, Professor of Social Welfare and Public Policy, UCLA.

 

Ken Kaoru Nakamura (MSW, UCB)

Distinguished educator and practitioner who has promoted social change.

Presented by Pamela Brown, Professor Emerita, Humboldt University.

 

Dr. Barbara Needell (MSW, UCB)

Innovator in improving child welfare system policy and practice with data-driven research.

Presented by Dr. Daniel Webster, Center for Social Services Research, UC Berkeley

 

Benny Max Parrish (MSW, UCB)

Staunch client advocate and ethical hero.

Presented by Catharine Ralph, President, NASW-CA
