Due to the success of the Foster2SocialWork pilot that was launched earlier in the year, the National Association of Social Workers, California Chapter and the Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board are recruiting Social Workers and foster youth participants for a second cohort for Foster2SocialWork. This special project is designed to assist foster youth explore the career path of becoming a social worker. Let’s change lives together!
Here are three ways YOU can get involved:
1) Refer youth to participate!
Participants can anticipate paid work experience, job search assistance, vocational training, career planning, financial literacy, and much more!
2) Become a mentor!
Help build a pipeline of future Social Worker Professionals! Mentor a foster youth at your work and guide them in exploring the many fields of Social Work.
3) Share your work experience
Volunteer to share your social work career experience with foster youth participants during the 2-week bootcamp. This 45-minute presentation, along with a 15-minute Q&A, will highlight the diverse range of social work. Interested folks can contact Dr. Victor Manalo at victor@victormanalo.com.
