By Marilyn Potts, MSW, PhD
Distance Education Program Coordinator
The CSULB School of Social Work is delighted to announce that the new site coordinator for our MSW Distance Education program in Sonoma County will be Shelly Kalmer, MSW, ACSW.
Shelly brings to the position extraordinary organizational skills, networking abilities, and long-term support of social work education in the area. In her role as NASW-CA Chapter Region A Director, Shelly has been steadfast in her advocacy for participants in our DE programs, including offering stipends to those students attending the annual Lobby Days events, sponsoring graduation ceremonies for past cohorts, and organizing free professional development events for students throughout their academic career.
Her acceptance of the position softens our sadness that Catherine Arnold, LCSW and Margie Helm, LCSW, our current co-site coordinators, will be moving on to other adventures. Shelly will undertake her duties officially in mid August.
Welcome, Shelly, to the CSULB Distance Education community!
