API Social Work Council Hosting Free Webinar On November 21st for International Students: Understanding Visa Policies & Sharpening Job Searching Skills

Given the pandemic and rapid policy changes, international students and recent graduates, especially API students, have been going through unusual stresses including worries for their student visa and prospects of job research at this time. APISWC has been deeply concerned and would like to support the community and invited two experts to present a webinar for the community.

Target Audience:
 International students, professionals who are serving international students (including, but not limited to: community leaders and organizers, school personnel, social workers, teachers, etc.)

Speaker:

  • Xiaojie (Marta) Meng: Xiaojie (Marta) Meng is a licensed attorney in the state of California. She is a partner at Song & Meng LLP, and practices exclusively in the field of immigration and nationality law. Marta currently serves on the executive committee of Los Angeles County Bar Association, Immigration Section. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyer Association. In 2020, Marta was named as “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers magazine in immigration law for Southern California. Marta earned her Master of Laws degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She received her Bachelor and Master of Laws degree from Fudan University in China.
  • Tim Workman: Tim Workman is the Outreach and Community Engagement Associate for Upwardly Global’s western region. He has wide-ranging experience working with marginalized communities both at home and abroad, and has spent the last two years at Upwardly Global helping immigrant professionals find their way back into their careers in the U.S.
