August 6, 2015 marks the 50th Anniversary of the historic Voters Rights Act of 1965!
NASW National will be posting a commemorative statement on August 6th and will disseminate a justice brief on the ongoing importance of protections of voters’ rights for traditionally disenfranchised Americans.
In the meantime, the NAACP is planning a major voters’ rights activity entitled America’s Journey for Justice. The “journey” will be a march from Selma, Alabama to Washington, DC. They will travel about 650 miles over a
two-week period. NAACP is asking national organizations to participate in the march, especially organizations that have affiliates in the states trough which the march will pass.
Below is a timeline chart showing when the Journey for Justice March will come through given states.
